Description

Arc'teryx: Men's Alpha SV Jacket - Altrec.com Product Description:

A top-of-the-line mountaineering and backcountry skiing jacket, the Arc'teryx Men's Alpha SV weighs just over a pound. The use of expedition-tough GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric, WaterTight zippers, and laminated construction techniques all play a huge role in making the Alpha SV such a lightweight jacket despite its full-featured status. This new line of GORE-TEX® is stronger and more breathable than ever before. Micro seam allowances and tiny GORE-TEX® seam tape reduce bulk and weight, while also making this first-rate jacket surprisingly supple. WaterTight zippers eliminate the need for bulky, heavy flaps and the laminated construction pulls it all together without the need for fabric weakening stitches and the additional fabric needed to sew one section of fabric to another. Whether belaying from an awkward stance or skinning across a crevasse minefield, the removable HemLock keeps the jacket from creeping out from under your climbing harness. At the same time no-lift gusseted underarms and articulated elbows help the Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket remain comfortably positioned so you can focus on the task at hand.

  • Highly abrasion resistant 480N MG GORE-TEX® 3-layer Pro
  • Hip length with a drop-back hem for maximum foul weather protection
  • Helmet compatible Storm Hood with four point adjustability and laminated brim
  • Laminated quick-dry chin guard
  • Laminated die-cut Velcro® cuffs with elastic form a weatherproof seal around your handwear

  • Two high volume hand pockets and two chest pockets provide a cozy refuge for chilly digits and delicate electronic gear
  • Two internal pockets and one sleeve pocket
  • Articulated elbows offer freedom of movement
  • Laminated waist and hem drawcords seal out spindrift
  • Micro seam allowances (1/16 of an inch, 1.6mm) and tiny GORE-TEX® seam tape reduces garment weight and improves suppleness
  • Removable harness HemLock keeps the jacket from creeping out from under a climbing harness

Great skiing jacket Perfect jacket for severe weather protection during epic climbs. The drop back hem has rear coverage while allowing front-point visibility. GORE-TEX® Pro Shell fabric and a Storm Hood seal out moisture and wind, while the harness HemLock keeps the jacket from lifting out of the harness while climbing.

It's arcteryx I have the Theta AR and so satisfied so I decided to give this higher model as a birthday gift for my dad. He got extremely happy. Looking at the quality of this one and comparing it w/ my Theta, I'm seriously thinking about buying one for me :)

Good, but not Ok, here's your wake up call, clothes-tech geeks: the term "bombproof" doesn't really mean bomb-proof. This jacket is as durable as they come, but its not bulletproof. It is nothing but thin nylon with a coating of teflon underneath. DO NOT shoot it with a shotgun like the previous reviewer did, or you will have a shredded, worthless chunk of textile. Also, when it rains, get that hood on fast, or it will fill with water and soak you from the top down. Zippers are tiny and difficult to manuever with gloves, and they are quite stiff, at least for the first few months of regular wear. If you don't like crossing your arms into pockets then you will hate the these outside pockets. Inside pockets are tiny. Keeps you dry and stops the wind, though. Overall, I'd rate an 8 out of 10. My 2 cents.
