great multi-purpose shoe I have worn the Ventilators for 6 months now and I have to say they are easily the best "compromise" hiker I've worn. Best for 2-5 mile walks over predictable terrain, but still very supportive over rocks, roots, and doing moderate elevation. Not bad for plain old casual wear also. Would definitely recommend
