Description

Mountain Hardwear: Men's GTX 2.5 Jacket - Altrec.com Product Description:

When the weather turns rough in the backcountry, turn to the Mountain Hardwear Men's GTX 2.5 Jacket for protection from wind, snow, and rain. The Gore-Tex® Paclite® laminate with a durable nylon FTX 2.5 face guarantees waterproof and breathable performance that's 15% lighter than similar three layer Gore-Tex® fabrics. Bad weather doesn't always mean that you stop and set-up the tent, and that's when the welded pit zips come in handy for dumping excess heat as you carry your load higher on the mountain. On the other hand, strategically welded interior panels of Yeti Fleece™ provide added insulation for those times when you need every bit of extra warmth, such as when riding a slow moving chair lift on a windy day or belaying your speed challenged ice climbing partner.

  • Durable 100% nylon FTX 2.5 face with waterproof and highly breathable Gore-Tex® Paclite® laminate
  • Interior Yeti Fleece™ strategically welded for optimum heat retention
  • Attached, roll-away, ergonomic hood with sturdy, laminated brim
  • Articulated sleeves for unrestricted motion
  • Superlight pit zips are welded and water resistant, and provide air circulation when needed
  • Micro-chamois lined chin guard protects from zipper chafing
  • One handed hood, waist, and hem drawcords adjust the fit and block cold gusts
  • Laminated front zip flap offers enhanced weather protection
  • Interior water bottle pocket and interior zip pocket
  • Laminated cuff tabs with Velcro® closure
  • Welded arm pocket and hand pockets with water resistant zips
  • Two chest pockets with water-resistant zips
  • Average weight: 1 lb. 8 oz. (708 grams)

great shell jacket I was looking for a completely waterproof yet lightweight shell jacket for bad weather such as heavy rain and snow but did not want to spend a fortune. I found lightweight meant few or no pockets but not this model. I love that the GTX has plenty of them (left arm, water bottle, sides, inside, etc.) I like to have small items such as phone, gloves, compass, etc., easily accessible. The Gore-Tex Paclite repelled water and snow without a problem keeping me completely dry. Didn't feel much of an effect with the fur sections. A fleece midlayer is much better insulator for warmth. This is a solid performer but a solid company.

OK I like the weight, the fit and generally everything about the jacket except the main 2 way zipper. I had a horrible time getting in and out of the jacket as the zipper was a real pain to line up right. Also the fur inside pretty much ruled it out for me as I live in the South and don't need the added warmth. Overall a good value but I will stay away from 2 way zippers in the future. I've had them but never used them so why bother?

good jacket The jacket provides a regular fit though I prefer a more slim/athletic fit. The jacket provides many pockets for storage including the pockets at the breast on both sides. The pocket on the left breast is perfet for storing your cell phone or PDA. There is an interior breast pocket that is indicated for an MP3 player. However, i there does not appear to be a hole for the earphone cord. The front zipper is a dual zipper in case you need to just raise the lower portion when sitting. Overall, the jacket is comfortable and great value. I would recommend it to others.
