The full leather palm grips ice tools or stone, even in the worst conditions. I love these gloves I use them for snowshoeing and back country boarding. Warmth is good and I agree with the other post regarding they need to be waterproofed.

Love the glove My second pair (1st pair lost off my roof rack on some NH highway!) Good fit, supple, as weatherproof as I ever needed. Agree with weatherproofing comment for extended use on wet snow/ice conditions, but these gloves perform superbly while still allowing enough feel to tweak a binding or sink a screw.
