Description

Osprey Packs: Aether 70 Backpack - Altrec.com Product Description:

Wow! When Osprey decides to redesign their backpacks, they don't just tack on a couple new bells and whistles. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack now features a rebuilt AirScape suspension system, custom molded hipbelt technology, and the IsoForm shoulder harness, available in four sizes. This system truly gives the backpacker a personal fit. The AirScape suspension system provides superior breathablility and ultra-comfortable pack to body contact while dual 7075 AL rods along both edges of the framesheet transfer the load to the custom fit hipbelt. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack carries the usual assortment of camping gear in an organized, efficient manner. Removable sleeping pad straps are ready when needed but can be removed for more streamlined packing. A sleeping bag compartment opens nice and wide for easy load division. Furthermore, side compression straps, dual access side pockets, and a deep stretch woven exterior front pocket hold all sorts of things in such a manner that they don't clang or flop around. A refreshing sip of water is only a nod of the head away, thanks to dual exit ports for a hydration tube. And when you finally reach camp and want to head out on a reconnaissance mission, the floating top pocket and hipbelt can be removed from the pack body and joined together to make a fanny pack. The Osprey Aether 70 backpack is designed to comfortably carry loads of 40 to 50 lbs. For larger loads be sure to check out the Osprey Aether 85 backpack and for smaller loads be sure to check out the Osprey Aether 60 backpack.

Comfortable! I have an Osprey Atmos 50 backpack for one to three nighters but I could not get my big bear canister inside. The Aether 70 can hold the bigger bear canister and is the pack I use when I'm gone for 3 to 6 nights and I need to carry a big bear canister. I used this pack for a 6 nighter in Emigrant Wilderness this last July and was very pleased with how it handled and the weight it carried (45lbs)... a very comfortable pack

Versatile/Comfortable Pack Just returned from a 5 day, backcountry,Yosemite trip. Loaded Aether 70 with just under 40lbs. of gear including bear canister with no space issue. I am 5'6" and 140lbs., male. My torso measurement is 18.5". I purchased a medium which puts me on the smaller side of the scale. I was wearing the pack probably lower on the hips then recommended but needed to so that there was no gap between my shoulders and the shoulder straps. I like my pack tight. End result, blisters just below the belt line on my hips. Adjusted pack to ride higher on the hips thus solving problem. The pack, even when packed full, maintains a thin/tall profile that I found helpful on narrow paths and switchbacks. Quality and craftmanship of pack appears top notch. I have yet to have the belt custom molded and plan on doing so before the next adventure. I would recommend this pack to anyone, just make sure sizing is correct.

Is this Handy? - Yes - No

excellent hiked ~ 5000 ft(9000 - 14,000ft) in Bolivia on first use of pack without having belt custom molded. Was able to adjust pack for extreme comfort. I would recommend highly.

Is this Useful? - Yes - No ( 4 of 4 thought this was useful.)
