Great from the first step! This is my first pair of Salomons - and I put them to the test immediately with a trail run covering snow, rocks, and loose dirt. They were great - and didn't even cause any blisters. There is a lot of room in the toe and the lacing works well. They don't have as much cushioning as my "old faithful" Montrail Hard Rocks, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the Salomons for anything up to 20-25 miles.

Comfortablet shoe but lacing system needs improvement I love theses shoes but have fallen twice due to the lace catching once on my other toe and once on some stairs! The laces are too long and it's hard to figure out what to do with the excess loop which lengthens when the toes are bent to climb uphill! Am I the only person with this problem? I've tried to tuck and tie the laces a number of ways and now I'm thinking of duct tape!

Instant gratification! After running for more than 30 years, I highly recommend these shoes for trail running. Unbelievable comfort combined with a roomy toe box is a runner's dream come true! These are my first pair of Salomon's and I refuse to buy another brand of shoes because of the hype of advertising. For sizing, I suggest you go to a reputable outlet that carries this brand as they run a size larger than normal. The Quickfit lacing system works for me and I don't miss having to stop to tie my shoes while out on longer runs. They actually stay put. Thanks for a superior product. Mahalo!
