Description

The North Face: Scree Gaiter II - Altrec.com Product Description:

Pebbles. Grit. Cinders. Beauty bark. Ouch. For all the ounces you might try to lose while running, your trail running shoes seem to pick up the extra weight. It might not seem too bad over the first mile or two, but then those minute bits of rock work their way down inside your shoes, impregnating your socks, nipping at your tender arches and wearing away the flesh between your toes. Yuck. The North Face Scree Gaiter II helps keep the trail out of the inside of your shoes, but it doesn't weigh as much or limit your mobility like full-length hiking gaiters. Specifically designed for The North Face Ultra 102 and Ultra GTX running shoes, it features secure hook attachments and a profile that neatly conforms to the natural contours of your ankles. The mesh body fabric enhances airflow better than most traditional canvas or waterproof/breathable gaiter designs. Hit your personal best in trail running comfort today.

These are easy to put on Not sure why some say it they are hard to put on. I just received mine in the mail, used a paper clip to pull out the cord on the shoe, and connected the clip on the gaiter. Anything that I can do in 10 seconds seems easy to me. Just keep a paper clip in your camel back or clip it onto your laces in case you want to put the gaiters on while on the trail.

Does the job I actually don't use these totally for running shoes. They are an outstanding alternative to standard high gaiters when using a light trail hiker(snug fit) or climbing shoe. I find often that gaiters are over kill, plagued by over heating/weight, when all you're trying to do is keep the dust and a few pebbles out. These Scree's do the job while mountain rambling........

Good gear but hard to put it on It does what it's meant to do, keep out debris and small rocks out of your TNF shoes. One of the negatives is it's somewhat difficult to put it on because of the tight cords on the shoes (which the gaiter hools onto) and the gaiter's plastic hook. Second, I am not too sure about the reliability and longevity of the plastic hook. Otherwise, it's a fine product.
